Book Report Fun Facts
Hi Everybody,
Lots of you have written asking for information about me for book reports. Of course, there’s the straightforward “About the Author” kind of stuff you have to put in your book reports but hopefully you’ll also find some room for some of these more fun facts about me!
Good luck and thanks for writing about me!
Laurie Friedman
The Facts:
Fun Fact #1: I was born in Fayetteville, AR, in 1964. I grew up in Arkansas and then lived in lots of fun places including New Orleans, Paris, New York, and Miami—which is where I live now.
Fun Fact #2: I am the oldest of three girls, which means I can be a little bit bossy (according to my younger sisters).
Fun Fact #3: I have lots of favorite foods. My top three are cheeseburgers, coffee ice cream, and cinnamon rolls. I also really like spaghetti, movie popcorn, chocolate covered raisins, malted milk balls, and peaches.
Fun Fact #4: I have as many favorite authors as I have favorite foods, but if I had to choose my all-time favorite when I was growing up, it would definitely be Judy Blume.
Fun Fact #5: I love to read as much as I love to write. When I was growing up I used to read under the covers with a flashlight. I would leave one ear sticking out of the blanket so I could hear my dad coming down the hall. The first sound of footsteps and it was lights out for me!
Fun Fact #6: Readers always want to know which Mallory book is my favorite. It’s a hard question to answer because I like them all. But I have a real soft spot for Heart to Heart with Mallory. I used to keep a journal when I was Mallory’s age and her journal sounds very similar to mine.
Fun Fact #7: I collect anything with hearts on it. I also have a bulletin board covered with my favorite quotes. You’ll find lots of these quotes in my new series, The Mostly Miserable Life of April Sinclair.
Fun Fact #8: I’ve always liked writing things in rhyme. If you go to the picture section of my blog, you can see a picture of a poem I wrote to my mother for Mother’s Day when I was in 5th grade.
Fun Fact #9: I wanted to be lots of things when I was growing up including a movie star, an astronaut, a hairdresser, a waitress, and more than anything, an author.
Fun fact #10: I think I have the best job in the world, and the best part of my job is when I hear from fans like you who like my books.
Keep reading! Keep writing! I think you all deserve A+’s on your book reports!
