I know you’re all getting ready to go back to school and some of you have already started.  I just wanted to say good luck!  Get those backpacks ready and if you’re looking for something to read that you can relate to, check out Back to School, Mallory.  I hope you have just as much fun (minus the problems) starting school as Mallory does.

I hope you’re all enjoying the last month of summer.  I know some of you are already thinking about going back to school.  I’ve gotten lots of questions asking if I do author visits.  I love visiting schools and if you think your school might be interested in having me, just talk to your librarian or media specialist and she can contact me. 

Also, special thanks to Nicole, Micah, Rebecca, Abigail, Jenna, Lexie and Kiara.    Thanks to all of you for writing and for being such great fans.  Abigail and Rebecca both asked what the next book is that’s coming out after Mallory in the Spotlight.  It is called Mallory’s Guide to Boys, Brothers, Dads and Dogs.   Mallory wants to become an expert in all of these areas but they’re some pretty complicated topics!  It’s not out until next year so for now, I hope all of you will read Mallory in the Spotlight.

July 4 is almost here and it’s time to get patriotic!  If you’re looking for something to read that goes along with the theme, try Red, White and True Blue Mallory.  It’s Mallory’s travel journal from her class trip to our nation’s capital . . . Washington D.C.  You can go along with her as she tours the museums and monuments and of course, stick by her side when her best friend forgets to (I don’t want to say too much or I’ll give away the plot!).   I hope you have a fun holiday and lots of fun reading!

Thanks for all the great mail lately!  To Anna, Yajaira and Aleeya:  I’m so glad you all like reading about Mallory.  Aleeya asked me some really good questions about where I find my ideas and what inspires me.  The answer is that I love writing about things that happened to me when I was Mallory’s age.  I also like writing about things that happened to my kids when they were Mallory’s age.  And of course, I love making things up!

Naika asked where she could get information about me for an author study.  If you look on my blog, there is a section called Laurie’s Book Report Fun Facts.  You will find lots of fun facts there that you can use in your report.

Anna asked how Mallory and Mary Ann became best friends.  The answer is that they lived next door to each other when they were born and they are life long best friends.

Thanks to all of you for all the great mail lately.   Special thanks to Gretchen, Alexis, Infinity, Gabby, Grace, Joan, Faith, Khushali, Alice, Julissa and Kelly.  I’m so glad you all like the Mallory books and I love all of your ideas about things that Mallory should do!   

Hats off to everyone who celebrated Earth Day.  I loved reading about all of the things you did to help the environemnt.   

Last but not least, lots of you asked me what the newest book is that is out:  I know some of you have read Mallory Goes Green.   For those of you who haven’t, I hope you will.  The next Mallory book that is coming out is called Mallory in the Spotlight.  Mallory gets a part in her school play but she finds out that being in the spotlight has it’s ups and downs.  It was a lot of fun to write, and when it comes out, I hope you’ll all read it!
