Summer reading

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

Hi Everbody,

Summer is almost here and that means fun in the sun and vacations, and hopefully some fun summer reading!

In my case (at least when I was growing up,) summer always meant road trips. Every summer my family would pack up the car and we’d go on an adventure.  It was lots of fun (and of course, always a bit of drama too!)   Best of all, those trips gave me a lot to write about!

Can You Say Catastrophe? is the first book in The Mostly Miserable Life of April Sinclair series and it’s about the road trip April and her sisters take the summer April turns thirteen. April spends a good part of the trip wishing she was at summer camp with her friends (instead of in a hot camper with her little sisters), but when something big and unexpected happens, April realizes how much her sisters really mean to her.

Can You Say Catastrophe?

In The Mallory McDonald series, in On the Road with Mallory, Mallory goes on a road trip with her family to the Grand Canyon. She’s so excited to go, then at the last minute finds out that her annoying cousin Kate is coming along. There’s LOTS of drama (and some tears.) Of course, a few laughs too . . . especially when it comes to mule riding!

On the Road with Mallory

I hope you’ll add both books to your summer reading list!

Change Is In the Air Mallory

Hi Everybody,

Raise your hands if you have a pet that you love . . .

Well, Mallory’s hand is right up there with all of yours.  She loves her cat, Cheeseburger and when she gets sick and has to spend the night at the vet’s office, Mallory feels sick too.  It’s really hard when the pet you leave doesn’t feel well.  I hope you’ll read about how Mallory handles this tough situation in Change Is In the Air Mallory.

Life, Loss and Lemonade

Sunday, April 9th, 2017

Hi Everybody,

It’s hard to believe it’s already April. That means Spring Break for lots of you, and that the end of the school year is in sight.

In Life, Loss and Lemonade (the final book in The Mostly Miserable Life of April Sinclair series), April’s freshman year of high school is winding down, and she has a lot to look forward to, including getting her driving permit and spending the summer with her quirky almost-boyfriend, Leo. But she also knows her grandmother, Gaga, doesn’t have much time left. On top of that, her closest friend, Sophie, is moving away. April struggles to make sense of everything. Does it matter if you stay positive while losing a loved one to cancer? What do you do when you’re caught between friends keeping secrets? How do you know whether an important decision is the right one? Most importantly, what would Gaga say to do when life hands you lemons?

I hope you’ll read Life, Loss and Lemonade and find out!

Talk to you soon!
