Texas bound!

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Hi Everybody,

I hope you’re all having a great weekend.  I’ve been busy getting ready for what I know will be a great week.  I’m going to Texas tomorrow and I will be speaking at three schools:

College Park Elementary and Jennie Reid Elementary in LaPorte and the Fay School in Houston.

I can’t wait to meet all of the students at all three schools!

Talk to you (and see some of you) soon!

Illinois … What a Great State!

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Hi Everybody,

I was in Springfield, Illinois last week at the Illinois Reading Council Conference and I met so many nice teachers and reading specialists.  It was so much fun and I love knowing that there are so many classrooms in Illinois filled with so many great readers!

Special thanks to all of you from Mrs. Lundgren’s class who wrote to me . . . Rachel, Maddy, and Julie, I loved hearing from you.  You asked so many great questions.  One of the big ones was where I get my inspiration and the answer is that I like to write about things that happened to me when I was growing up, things that happen to my own kids, and of course, I like to make things up!   I also am inspired to keep writing when I hear from fans like you who like reading about Mallory.  Thanks again for your letters.

Thanks too to Madison, Carolina, Julie, Afshan, Danielle, Monique, Shilpa, Mallory, Suzanne, Aishah, Gina, Mallori, and everyone else who wrote to me.  I love all of your comments and suggestions.  I know lots of you asked if you could have a copy of Mallory in the Spotlight.  There were only a few copies so I’m sorry if you didn’t get one, but the book will be out this summer and I hope you will all read it then.

Talk to you soon,

Mallory In the Spotlight!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Hi Everybody,

If you like being first, here’s your chance!  I will send an advance copy of the next Mallory book, Mallory In the Spotlight, to the first five classrooms who write to me and tell me they would like to read it.

Mallory is the star in the school play and you can be one of the first to read about her moment in the spotlight (which I promise you isn’t all shiny!)

I can’t wait to hear from you!

Talk to you soon!
